‘LPBW’ Tori Roloff Breaks Silence About Josiah’s ‘Condition’

Little People Big World parents Tori Roloff and Zach Roloff welcomed their baby boy Josiah Luke Roloff just over three months ago. The new mom has adjusted to life with three children. As she’s said the adjustment from two to three was easier than going from one to two. Tori says it’s like Josiah’s always been there with them.

Little People Big World fans love the monthly updates Tori Roloff shares about “Si”. In addition, she constantly is sharing pictures of her new son along with his older siblings Jackson Rloff and Lilah Roloff. Fans just cannot get enough of the three cutie pies of Zach and Tori. However, on Tori’s latest update over the weekend, many fans asked her why Josiah is often seen with his tongue out in photos. Continue reading to see Tori’s explanation.

Little People Big World: Tori Roloff Explains Josiah’s Condition

Little People Big World star Tori Roloff is known as one of the most open and honest reality tv stars on social media. So it’s not surprising that Tori took the time to directly respond to fans when they asked a few questions about her newest son Josiah. Tori gushed over all her son’s accomplishments over the last month and the first 90 days overall. Josiah is certainly thriving. Still, fans overwhelmingly are curious about Josiah’s tongue.

The Little People Big World mom responded to the questions over Josiah’s tongue with this candid response, “A larger tongue is a characteristic achondroplasia.”. Tori also added, “He will grow into it.” Older siblings, Jackson and Lilah, also have achondroplasia dwarfisms like Josiah, their father Zach Roloff, and their paternal Mimi Amy Roloff. Jackson and Lilah both had the same situation with their tongue as Josiah. It is very common in infants with this type of dwarfism.

LPBW: Doctor Offers Contrary Opinion On Josiah’s Tongue

Little People Big World celeb Tori Roloff explained the condition in layman’s terms to the best of her knowledge. However, Dr. John Pappas, director of clinical genetic services at NYU Langone’s Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, sees the situation differently. Dr. Pappas assays, “It’s not that the babies have larger tongues, it’s the way that the face is developing.” He further adds, “The middle of the face is underdeveloped and the tongue appears to be larger.”

Little People Big World star Tori Roloff was spot with saying Josiah will grow into it. Here’s the more cyclical explanation Dr. Pappas provided:

“It’s not that the babies have larger tongues, it’s the way that the face is developing. The middle of the face is underdeveloped and the tongue appears to be larger.”.

The doctor also said:

“As they grow, the face develops and will accommodate the tongue.”

Of course, Tori’s been down this road with both her older children. She certainly has previous experience and first-hand knowledge of raising children with dwarfism as well as co-parenting with a man who himself is a dwarf. All that matters is Josiah is well loved happy, healthy, and thriving.
