The Cleveland Kidnappings on ID is investigating the heinous crimes of Ariel Castro, who kidnapped Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus between 2002 and 2004 and held them captive in his Cleveland home until 2013.
Ariel Castro Monster On The Prowel
Castro subjected his three victims to horrific torture and abuse, but their courage and resolve allowed them to persevere and eventually escape.
In August 2002, Castro tricked Michelle Knight, then 21 years old, into his car and held her captive at this house. He attacked again in April 2003, kidnapping Amanda Berry, 16, and locking her in a cupboard.
In April of the following year, he enticed 14-year-old Gina DeJesus into his basement and restrained her. She had been one of his daughters’ friends.
The women were held in the most appalling conditions. They were confined to small closet-like quarters, sleeping on filthy beds and using only a pail to relieve themselves.
Ariel Castro Raped and Tortured the victims
The three were sexually and physically mistreated on a regular basis. Their nutrition comprised solely of chips and snacks, and Castro frequently starved them. Amanda Berry successfully eluded Ariel Castro
Amanda Berry Escapes
Knight, Berry, and DeJesus lived in these appalling conditions for nearly a decade, until Castro left the house on May 6, 2013, leaving a door unlocked. Berry was able to alert a passer by shouting for aid, and they assisted her in breaking down a storm door, allowing Berry and her daughter to flee; she had given birth while being held captive.
Berry immediately dashed to a neighbor’s house and called 911, telling the operator, “I’ve been kidnapped and gone for ten years.” I’ve arrived. “Now I’m free.”
The 3 young ladies are adults now and some have families of their own. Michelle made several appearances on The Dr. Phil Show. She has been very public about her PTSD and mental problems all of this has caused.
